- About Park My Phone
- Q: What is ParkMyPhone?
- A: Park My Phone is a great way to save money on your phone bills if you just want to give up some of your phone lines but not the phone number or if you are moving to a different city, state, country or going away for a while. After you sign up, we will port your phone number to our system. You can select from different options how to process your call when it comes in; you can just leave an outgoing message or choose to forward your calls to a different number.
- Q: Can you expedite the porting process for me? I
am really in a hurry, my new bill is coming up and I want
to avoid having to pay for another month.
- A: Unfortunately we do not
control the process and the time it takes. It will
depend on the accuracy and details of the LNP form you
filled out, and on the losing phone company. The losing
company obviously does not want to lose a customer and
sometimes they make it harder to port a number away from
them. Sometimes it is really a battle to get a number
out. You might not notice, but we are doing our best
each and every day to get your phone number
moved.
- Q: When using Call Forwarding how many minutes goes towards my monthly 500 forwarded minutes when I receive a phone call?
- A: If you choose our forwarding plan, each minute you're on the phone will go towards your monthly minutes. We only forward to U.S. numbers and long distance changes don't apply.
- Q: I am considering signing up for MagicJack, but they cannot transfer
my existing phone number. Will you be able to help me keep my phone
number?
- A. Yes. ParkMyPhone is the ideal service if you are changing your
service provider to companies like Vonage and MagicJack, and they are
not able to port your phone number.
After porting your phone number to us, you can leave a message telling
your callers about your new phone number. If they leave you a message
you can receive it via email, or by calling in to our system, using
any regular phone.
Contact us with your phone number so we can check the availability for
your phone number.
- Q: Can I port the number away from Family Phone?
- A: Yes, this is your number, so you can port it anywhere you wish at
any time. You must notify us that you intend to port your phone number
in order for us to stop charging you. Please read further for answers
regarding payments and refunds
- Q: Can I have multiple incoming telephone numbers?
- A: Yes, and you can choose to receive all the calls on a single telephone, or a separate telephone for each number, or even “mix and match”. Just let us know your special needs, and we will do the best to fill your request. Call us at 1-877-727-5698 or chat with us online!
- Q. Do you charge me if I decide to port my number away to a different
service provider?
- A: No. We do NOT CHARGE you for porting away your number, if you let
us know that you intend to port your phone number away. Your new
provider might charge for porting your number. (Please consult with
them before taking such an action).
If you have signed for a one year prepaid package, you might not be
eligible for a refund for your unused period. Please see other
questions in this matter
- Q: After porting and forwarding the number, am I going to have Caller ID?
- A: Yes we transfer the caller ID if it is available. The call is completely transparent, so you should receive all information that is sent to us.
- Q: Is there a minimum period that I must pay? Do I have to sign a contract?
- A: Yes. For US numbers parking landline, toll free and cel lphone numbers we have a 6 months minimum payment requirement. With Faxes and Canadian numbers, this requirement is one year (12 months). However, if you selected the 12 months prepaid discounted offer you will not receive any refund. Porting your number involves both direct expenses and is labor intensive. Your first annual payment will cover the cost of porting your number AND your first 12 months of service. You can port your number away from us any time you choose (after the first 30 days), but this payment is not refundable.
- Q: How much you charge if I go over my minutes? How much it cost if I need more than 500 minutes?
- A: If you find you need more minutes, you can customize your package
by adding bulks of 100 minutes to your forwarding package for $2/Mo. So you can have a plan with 600, 700, 1600 or 1700 minutes if you wish.
However we do not have "gotcha" charges for a few minutes overage.
Regardless, we do ask that you stay within the limits of your plan.
- Q. Can I park the numbers for a few days only until I renegotiate prices with my current provider?
- A:No. The porting process itself takes about 2 weeks on average, and may be longer. You are only allowed to port your number away after a period of 30 days. If you port your phone number away from us before the end of the 30-day-period from the date of the actual porting of your number to us, you will pay a heavy fine.
- Q. I am going away for a while; want to travel the world, but I want to
keep my phone number. Can I cancel my service and still keep my phone
number?
- A: No! If you want to keep your phone number DO NOT CANCEL YOUR
SERVICE BEFORE THE TRANSFER IS COMPLETE! It is impossible to port a
canceled phone number.
If you do cancel your account and still ask us to port your phone
number, you agree to pay us the porting fee ($20) even if we cannot
port your number in such a case.
- Q. How does your voice mail to email work? What kind of file is it?
- A: It's a .wav file which you can play on your PC or Mac or even your Internet enabled cell phone.
- Q. What will happen if I fill up the forms to port my phone number,
AFTER I cancelled my account?
- A: If you knowingly ask us to port your phone number after you already
canceled your account, and we are not able to port your phone number
as a result, you will be charged for the $20 porting fee.
- Q. My friend owns a line that he wants to port over to you, in order to
park it with ParkMyPhone. Only problem is that currently he has no
access to email or fax. Can I sign the forms for him? (We are really
good friends).
- A: No, the LNP (or LOA - Letter Of Authorization) form must be signed
by the current owners of the phone number. Your request will be denied
if there is a mismatch between the owner's record with the phone
company, and the LOA form.
- Q. What type of file is the voicemail attachment?
- A: The file is in .WAV format. You can play it from your PC, MAC and most cell phones that have internet on them.
- Q. How often do you charge for my service?
- A: We charge your account every calendar month at the beginning of the
month. However, if your monthly charges are less than $10, you will
be charged every 3 months, in order for us to save on credit card
fees. You will still be eligible for a pro-rated refund for any period
of time of unused service, should you decide to cancel your service.
If you have signed for an annual service agreement, your account will
be charged only once for that year.
- Q: What does the FCC have to say about LNP (Local Number Portability)?
- Q: What happens after the first 12 months?
- A: If you selected the annual prepaid offer, then after the first 12
months your account will be changed to a month to month service. Please
note: if your total monthly charges are less than $10, we will charge
you only once every 3 months; in order to keep credit card
fees as low as possible. As stated above, you will get a refund for any
unused period of time should you decide to stop the service.
- Q. I am interested in signing up, but I have no access to a printer,
scanner or fax, can I sign electronically?
- A: Yes, if you can access your bill using the web, you should be able
to print it using software that can "print" to a PDF file.
Download the file called PDFcreator from this site:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
After the software is installed, you will be able to print it and
save the completed form as a PDF file. Send the PDF files to us via
email.
However the LOA form must be signed. Contact us if
you have no way to sign the form and fax or scan and email it back to
us.
- Q: The number that I want to port to "Park My Phone" has a DSL service
on it. Will I be able to port the number without losing my DSL
connectivity?
- A: What you are trying to do is to turn your DSL service to be
"Naked". We cannot guaranty that any of the services or features
currently attached to your phone line will be preserved. You should
check that and DOUBLE CHECK it with your current phone company. Many
companies might disable the features and services on a phone line
after it is ported away.
However, we have had customers succeeding in converting their DSL phone
line to a "naked DSL". Below is some info contributed by a
customer who was kind enough to send it to us, for your
information:
Here are the main steps in achieving a "Naked DSL" after porting your
phone number to us while keeping your DSL service.
1) Sign up to manage your account online, (Verizon customers should go
to verizon.net not verizon.com) log in and sign up for credit card
billing for your DSL service.
2) Signup for ParkMyPhone service and send in the forms.
3) No down time should be observed during the porting process.
4) Later, you might receive an email from your DSL company, asking you
to switch to online credit card billing (if you haven't already done
so).

- Q: What is ParkMyCellPhone?
- A: Park My Cell Phone is a great way to save money on your phone bills if you just want to give up some of your phone lines but not the phone number or if you are moving to a different city, state, country or going away for a while. - Q: I want to change my cell number but keep my old number. When do I actually change my number with the cell company? Do I do that first, or do I have you start your process first? I don't want to have any interruption to my cellular account.
- A: You will have to start the porting process with us. When the porting date approaches (takes about 2 weeks) you contact them and tell them that the number is going to be ported away and ask them to assign a new number to replace the old one once it is gone. As far as we know they can assign a number within minutes or hours, so there might be a short gap of a few minutes or hours only.

to print it using software that can "print" to a PDF file.
Download the file called PDFcreator from this site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
After the software is installed, you will be able to print and
save the completed form as a PDF file. Send the PDF files to us via
email.
However the LOA form must be signed. Contact us if
you have no way to sign the form and fax or scan and email it back to
us.

- Q: Can I port the number away from Family Phone?
- A: Yes, this is your number, so
you can port it anywhere you wish at any time. You must
notify us that you intend to port your phone number in
order for us to stop charging you. Please read further
for answers regarding payments and refunds.
- Q: Does the FCC have anything to say about LNP
(Local Number Portability)?
- Q: Can I keep my current phone number?
- A: Yes, in most cases, you can
keep your existing phone number. Please see relevant
questions at the ParkMyPhone and ParkMyCellPhone
sections.
- Q: Can I use my cell phone number and turn it to my
home phone number?
- A: Yes, most certainly. Assuming
that we can port your phone number over to us (we have
95% coverage of the US market), you can use your cell
phone number in conjunction with our MyExtension service
to receive and make calls for a fraction of the cost while
maintaining your existing cell phone number.
- Q. Do you charge me if I decide to port my number
away to a different service provider?
- A: No. We do NOT CHARGE you for
porting away your number, if you let us know that you
intend to port your phone number away. Your new provider
might charge for porting your number. (Please consult
with them before taking such an action).
If you
have signed for a one year prepaid package, you might
not be eligible for a refund for your unused period.
Please see other questions in this matter.
- About Talk Local
- Q: What is TalkLocal?
- A: Talk Local is our new exciting service, allowing you to receive calls from a country of your choice directly to your home phone or cell phone.
- Q: I live in one country, and have family in other countries. How can I make myself available for less?
- A: By choosing TalkLocal, you can receive calls from many countries. Your family or friends simply call a local number, and your phone rings where you are. No long distance charges, no complicated dialing procedures, no calling cards and no internet telephones or equipment to buy.
- Q: I do business in several countries, and I want to make it easier for my customers to reach me.
- A: Clients and customers don’t like calling long distance to reach you. You can now have a local telephone number in the cities and countries that your business needs, and now your customers reach you with a local call.
- Q: I will be temporarily working in another country, and need a local telephone number.
- A: Do you have a temporary assignment overseas? Need a local telephone number, but don’t want to buy a new telephone, or a long term contract. Just sign up with Family Phone, pick the country, and then just cancel when you are done.
- Q: Can I change my call destination?
- A: Yes, if you want to receive your calls on a different cell phone, or landline, just email or call us, and we will take care of the rest.
- Q: Can I have multiple incoming telephone numbers?
- A: Yes, and you can choose to receive all the calls on a single telephone, or a separate telephone for each number, or even “mix and match”. Just let us know your special needs, and we will do the best to fulfill your request. Call us at 1-877-727-5698 or chat with us online!
- Q: I want to expand my business internationally.
- A: Gaining a local presence in another country can be very expensive. Now, all you need is a local number, and you can have a local telephone presence in many countries, and hundreds of cities.
- Payments, Charges and Canceling
- Q: Why was I charged the porting fee and 3 months of service when I signed up?
- A: According to our Terms and Conditions, under $10 monthly service fee we charge you quarterly. The service starts on the day of the porting and your next payment will be due exactly three months from the porting date. If you chose the monthly payment option, we charge you the porting fee and your first period. If you chose the yearly plan, you will be charged for one year of service.
- Q. Do you charge me if I decide to port my number away to a different
service provider?
- A: No. We do NOT CHARGE you for porting away your number. Your new
provider might charge for porting your number. (Please consult with
them before taking such an action). You have to let us know that you've ported your number away so we stop billing you! Please note: we require at least 6 months of paid service (the minimum is 1 year with Fax numbers and Canadian numbers).
- Q: I signed up for the yearly service, do I get a pro-rated refund if I cancel before my year expired?
- A: No, there is no refund for yearly plans.
- Q: What happens after the year? Do you automatically renew my service?
- A: Yes, it is on auto renew as stated in our signup form. The reason is that we cannot predict what you would want at the end of the year. You can stop the charges after the end of the year by contacting us.
- Q: Do I sign a contract? Is there any minimum payment requirements?
- A: Yes. For US numbers parking landline, toll free and cell phone numbers we have 6 months of minimum payment requirement. With Faxes and Canadian numbers this requirement is one year (12 month)
- Q: Why do you charge porting fee?
- A: The porting fee is not a tax we decided to add just to increase our profits. The fee is an actual fee we need to pay in order to get your number ported. It also helps us to cover the cost of this labor intensive process.
- Q: How do I cancel the service, how much does it cost?
- A: You must contact us via email, we only accept written cancellations. Please note, porting out a number can also take days or weeks. There is no charge for porting your number away from us.
- Q: Is there any additional taxes or fees that apply besides the monthly charges and porting fee?
- A: No. We have a "what you see is what you get" policy. The prices you see on our website are the prices you will have to pay. No additional taxes or fees.

- A: Our suggestion is that you contact your phone company and ask them what is the service address for the number. Many times they use the Central Office address in the area as the service address. You would need to find out exactly what the address is as P.O. Box, or military APO AP addresses are not accepted.
- Others
- Q: I am calling a phone number and I keep getting the message saying that the number is parked with ParkMyPhone.com. This is very frustrating.
- A:
We are sorry but you would need to find other ways to reach your party. The number you are dialing is currently frozen and not in use.
